While it may seem odd, the key to the massacre of about 1 million people in 100 days in Rwanda, and the ensuing wars in Central Africa that use wide scale rape as a strategic weapon, is the term "Cockroach". Actually, it was all about calling your political opponents or just about anybody of another tribe/clique (like union members) "cockroaches" or some other unwanted species, and instead of using all the media at your disposal to scream "exterminate those people", the phrase used was "exterminate the cockroaches".
Sounds stupid, right? But man was it effective.
These Central African (Congo) wars have also led to the slaughter of at least 4 million other people in the last decade, too - I guess it is a way to deal with high population density. Uganda also did a similar horror show with Idi Amin, and it looks to repeat the process with anyone who is gay or suspected of being gay, or aiding someone who is gay.
So along comes that master of propaganda (and who also makes a fortune dishing out bigotry and associated propaganda, sometimes cleverly arranged, sometimes not), Rush Limbaugh:

Who says it can't happen here? Oh yes, that horrid person Hitler used a similar technique, but he and his band of criminals were hardly unique. Remember, it's the technique that matters. Find a scapegoat, dehumanize, and stand back while the blood flows like water over Niagara Falls.
The U.S. now has about 25 million "surplus people" of employable age (unemployed, barely employed, or "fallen off the radar screen"). There are not enough jobs to go around, and if lots of people "disappeared", there would be less need for unemployment payments, welfare, Food Stamps, heating money payments, medicare, medicaid, and probably less need for money to educate children (they also tend to be tied to their parents). In addition we have a large population of elderly. Geez, taxes on rich people could even be lowered if there were only less of those "undeserving freeloaders" that are "so needy" - Whoppee! Due to the theft of trillions of dollars by banksters and other financial schemers, grifters, con-artists, fraudsters and scammers recently, the economy is now in the pits. And so, scapegoats are being constructed to dump the blame on, and to shift ANY focus on progressive income tax rates, taxing value-less added financial speculation, hedge-fund "gambling" (pretty rigged, actually, in many cases), and stopping 2 useless Oil Wars still in progress which are bleeding our economy and troops something fierce, too.
Such scapegoating by Limbaugh (and others of his ilk are sure to follow), in a nation hurting and extremely well armed and dangerous is...very dangerous, at least if you believe in behaving humanely towards your fellow country-persons.
So, what are you going to do about this vile epidemic of hatred that just got deliberately unleashed yesterday? And if you think that it will just go away by itself, think again. With sufficient money - Limbaugh hauls in $60 million/yr, and via Karl Rove and the likes of the Koch Boys (as in "attention Governor Scott Walker, your dealer is on line 2"), lots of money and carefully crafted Frank Luntz media framing is available rather rapidly - it's a piece of cake. In the U.S., one should never underestimate the ability of advertising to do a lot of persuasion in a short amount of time, especially when a lot of money is behind that advertising. Especially in America, where most every household seems to have a TV set, which will definitely let out that kind of evil ooze in a very rapid and time tested manner. Radio is bad enough at doing this stuff (read the article to find out how the Rwanada wretchedness was no accident).
