Once Again, Bonnie Russell MIA

Where's Waldo Russell?

After this weekends UB blowout/trashathon, we had an interesting little chat with some of the UB officials who have to deal with problem students. Turns out that one of them, who actually lives in the area, tried to call the police about this weekends partying but couldn't get the police to show either.

When asked if they let Bonnie Russell know about this, they indicated that they have pretty much given up attempting to work with Ms. Russell. Now isn't that great, a neighborhood in crisis and the two parties that should be working together, well, not feelin' the love.

As you might recall, just a few months ago, Bonnie Russell and her BFF Byron Brown had to host a neighborhood get together after a UB student was gunned down on Main St, a 19 year old was stabbed to death at one of our quaint little college "house parties" and a brawl on Lisbon St involving over 100 people and other assorted student rapes, student muggings, student beatings and student stompings turned out to be more violence than people in this neighborhood could handle.

Good ole Mayor Brown made all sorts of promise that night, he'd talk to Chris Collins and get the problems with the 911 mess fixed, UB police and Buffalo police would work together, yada yada...
None of which happened, of course.

Parents of students, (I don't care if you have safely ensconced them in that barb wire wonder over on Eggert, a LOT of them end up here every weekend) you might want to keep in mind when your student comes home raped, beaten or god forbid in a coffin, that Mayor Brown and Bonnie Russell choose tax cuts over more police and housing inspectors.  You might also keep in mind that our City Council woman's response to all this is so useless, that many of us, including people at UB have given up even trying to work with her. Consider getting a good lawyer.
